Whining about the Web. [0220.1999] The hardest part about maintaining a directory of articles is finding good content. So many amature pages out there about particular topics just suck. Tacky backgrounds. They clutter the screen with useless graphics, pick fonts that prevent readers from discerning the important points on the page, and otherwise make readers work to find information. Corporate web sites are bad enough, but the small business and amature sites.. ugh. What a mess! I have yet to find a single useful site on stretching or yoga, for example. Every one I've visited so far looks horrible and has an abysmal signal to noise ratio. I don't want to buy someone's products. I don't want to walk down a spiritual path. I just want to learn a few exercises that'll make my back feel better. Maybe that's too much to ask. Or maybe it just means there's a huge market out there if I play my cards right. |
