the e-Primer

e-Prime means english without any form of the verb be. Because students
often overlook "hidden" forms such as I'm and we're, I wrote this simple
program to highlight any words that might possibly violate e-Prime.

bold means a word definitely contains a "be" verb.

italic means a word might contain a "be" verb. For example, the phrase
"human being" does not, but the phrase "you are being an idiot" does.
Similarly, "She's gone to the store" does not violate e-Prime because the
word "she's" represents "she has." However, "She's tall" violates e-Prime
because "she's" represents "she is."
